The Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company is an established insurance provider supplying insurance plans and services for more than a century. Founded in 1909, Mutual of Omaha is one of the first companies to cover women after World War One. In 1929, the company became one of the largest corporations in the United States. There were two divisions in the company—the Mutual Benefit company and United of Omaha. After the Pearl Harbor bombing, the company decided to change policies from partial to full coverage of war victims.
The company did not change its name to what it is known today until the 1950s. Expansion and growth swiftly followed until the 1970s. The company also provides group benefits and retirement solutions, including life Insurance, disability insurance, DentaBenefits, employee assistance program, retirement services, group annuities, special risk insurance, TPA stop loss insurance, and institutional investments.
Mutual of Omaha have earned strong ratings from three major rating services: A.M. Best, Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s. A.M. Best rated the company with A+ or superior, for its overall financial strength and ability to meet ongoing obligations to policyholders. Moody’s provided a rating of Aa3 or excellent, for its current financial strength and ability to withstand financial stress in the future, while Standard & Poor’s gave a rating of AA- or very strong, for its financial strength to meet obligations to policyholders.
Mutual of Omaha and its affiliates do their best to honor the promises they make to their policyholders through their business practices and customer service. The company have been accredited with the Better Business Bureau since February of 1940 with a rating of A+.
