It was originally established to succeed the Rockford District Mutual Tornado Insurance Company which was founded on the 2nd of November 1896 and began operations on the 1st of December 1897, under the name Rockford Farmers’ District Mutual Tornado Insurance Company. On January 16, 1940, the name was revised by dropping the word “Farmers” from its original corporate name.

At present, the Rockford Mutual Insurance Company provides insurance coverage, protection and programs for Home, Automobile, Commercial and/or Recreational Watercraft motor vehicle and Farm/Land owners from losses connected to the use of such properties from any unforeseen events. The company also offers homeowner and personal liability umbrella policies for residents in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Missouri.

The company is presently expanding its territories to Iowa and Minnesota operating as marine, fire, casualty and property insurance carrier.
