After a massive cyclone hit and tore through New Richmond, Wisconsin in 1900, killing a hundred people and injuring 500 more, the 135 charter members in the Cicero Township decided to protect themselves from natural calamities and disasters by forming The Farmers Home Mutual Hail, Tornado and Cyclone Insurance Company of Seymour, Wisconsin. In 1986 the company was renamed SECURA. Today the company employs some 500 employees and operates in the states of Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin with headquarters in Appleton Wisconsin with additional offices in Middleton, Wisconsin and Okemos, Michigan.

Over the past several years, SECURA has specialized in direct property, fire and casualty insurance offering a wide range of products and services to protect businesses, homes, farms and automobiles. The esteemed company also offers Watercraft and Recreational Vehicle coverage plans as well as insurance packages for small, medium and large scale businesses. The products, services and policies are sold by a network of independent insurance agents and professional brokers spread all over the 13 states that the company operates in.

SECURA envisions being the company of choice in the near future for several hundreds of thousands of policyholders. The same holds true as well for the thousands of insurance agents and independent brokers all around the country. The Company primarily believes that its main purpose is to serve its insurance agents and plan holders with the highest levels of honesty and integrity in all their business transactions. The Company employs highly skilled and creative professionals and provides them with the necessary training to help them succeed and keep pace with the ever changing demands in the market. On March 31, 2010, A.M. Best Co. affirmed the Financial Strength Rating (FSR) of the SECURA Insurance Company to “A” (Excellent) and The Issuer Credit Rating (ICR) of “a+” with stable outlook for both ratings. Over the years, the company has proven its capacity to meet all contractual and financial obligations as testament to the solid financial strength and stability ratings they continue to receive. SECURA’s strong sense of business, high principled, creative and innovative approach in doing business has guaranteed its survival for many years to come.

John A. Bykowski is the President, Chief Executive Office and Chairman of the Company. He joined the SECURA in 1997 as President and Chief Executive Officer bringing with him over 36 years of property and casualty insurance experience. Robert D. Bauman after, retiring as Senior Vice-President and General Counsel for the Company, still serves as the Corporate Secretary. He has been a member of the board since 1991. Kathryn J. Sieman serves as the Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer. Scott M. Huiras also serves as the Company’s Senior Vice-President. Other Board members include Mary Lou Casey, James R. Hayes, Wayne R. Micksch, Anne E. Ross, Jerome J. Smith, David J. Thomas, and Catherine J. Tierney.
