In May 2010, A.M. Best Co provided United Security Life and Health Insurance Company a “D” (Poor) FSR (Financial Size Category) rating and ICR (Issuer credit Rating) rating of “c”. Both ratings were given negative outlook. According to A.M Best Co., the ratings reflect the continued decline in USL&H’s risk-based capital position caused by significant operating losses. Furthermore, a big portion of the company’s capital and surplus is represented by common and preferred equities. Additional losses in these holdings could further deteriorate. However, based on the Better Business Bureau files, the company has a BBB Rating of A+ on a scale from A+ to F.
