The Western National Insurance Company began from a St. Paul-based insurer for Minnesota’s creameries and cheese factories in the 1900’s. In 1915, the Mutual Creamery and Cheese Factory Liability Insurance Company of Minnesota was formed in St. Paul to insure against Liability losses. In 1925, their operations expanded to Redwood Falls, Minn. and the Mutual Creamery and Cheese Factory Tornado Insurance Company of Minnesota was formed. Over the years, the establishment grew and acquired more companies until in 1970, they became the Western National Insurance Company (headquartered in Edina, Minn.), which today, is considered to be one of the private super-regional property and casualty insurance companies catering to individual, family, and business needs all over the Midwestern, Northwestern, and Southwestern United States.

The group currently consists of nine regional property and casualty insurance companies and is a proud supporter of independent insurance agency partners and their respective regional associates. These companies include Arizona Automobile Insurance Company (Phoenix, Ariz.), Legacy Insurance Services (Phoenix, Ariz.), Pioneer Specialty Insurance Company (Edina, Minn.), Titan Property & Casualty Insurance Company (Orland Park, Ill.), Umialik Insurance Company (Anchorage, Alaska), Western Home Insurance Company (Edina, Minn.), Western National Assurance Company (Seattle, Wash.), Western National Mutual Insurance Company (Edina, Minn.), and Wisconsin American Mutual Insurance Company (Fond du Lac, Wisc.). Western National takes pride in the exclusive distribution of their policies through independent professional insurance agents who are primarily focused on client needs.
